Day 3

Here are the activities for Day 1 of the opera unit.  This includes group activities and individual activities.

ACTIVITIES:

On the separate piece of paper:

List your group’s definition of opera

Get a dictionary and look up the definition of opera. 

Has anyone in your group ever seen an opera?  If yes, what is their impression of opera?  If no, why not?

List 5 reasons why opera is not well received by the general public.

Have a member read page 234 and look at the pictures in the green music book and report to the group about why opera singers need to be able to project their voices. 

Journal Activity:

1. “I believe that it would be challenging to write an opera because …….”

Additional group activities:

1.                Continue work on your Opera Presentation (project) “Hansel & Gretel.”  (Characters, plot, songs, etc.)

2.                Opera Crossword Puzzle Guidelines:
