We use the following terms in music class concerning pitch and tuning:
Pitch – how high and how low a note or sound is.
Intonation – the ability to play or sing notes in tune.
Tuning fork – a device in the shape of a fork that when struck will produce a set pitch by which one can tell if a pitch is being sung or played in tune.
A440 – the standard tuning pitch of all orchestras.
Tuner – an electronic device used to keep instruments and voices in tune by checking pitches when played or sung.
