This project involves students working in groups of 4-5 students. The students are given the beginning of a scene from the opera Hansel and Gretel. In their groups, the students continue the scene according to how the group decides to do it. After the requirements, there is a link to the assessment rubric for this project. Eighth Grade students have the opportunity to also research a composer of their choice. However in eighth grade the students give an oral presentation about the composer of their choice. Students may do their report individually or with one partner. Please check below for the list of composers from the Classical, Romantic, and Twentieth Century Music Periods. Students are to choose one composer and research information to present to the class. Also below is listed the criteria for the report and below that is a link to the assessment rubric for this presentation. There is also a link to the Web Help page for search engines which the students may use to gather information. Please note that each Marking Period has a different group of composers. Please click on the Marking Period that you have Music to get the list of composers.
