Harmony Project

The Harmony Project/Presentation is the first project that students will do in seventh grade.  This activity is done in group settings.  Generally, the students get to choose their group members for this project.  The group chooses one of several songs to harmonize and then present to the rest of the class.  Time is given for the groups to work on their project in class, and some groups have had students bring in music instruments to accompany the group in their presentation.  It is up to the group to decide how they want to harmonize the song and what song they will perform.  Students are assessed on their presentation as a group.  Please see the rubric on how the students will be assessed for this project.

Composer Paper

Each student is required to do a paper on a composer of his/her choice.  The student will research information about the composer and relate that information in the paper.  Students should use a variety of sources including the internet if possible, for information about the composer of their choice.  Students will choose one composer from the following list of composers from the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Baroque Periods to do their paper.  The rubric that I will use to assess the composer paper is found under Assessment Rubrics which I have a link to after the composers.  There is a link to the Web Help page for the students with several search engines for the internet.  Please note that each Marking Period has a different group of composers.  Please click on the Marking Period that you have Music to get the list of composers.
